OVERVIEW ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC SITUATION

                                             IN SOC TRANG IN 2022



                            Socio-economic activities in 2022 was performed in the context of
                        complicated  and  unpredictable  developments  of  the  global  economy;

                        high inflation, low growth; political competition, armed conflict; natural
                        disasters,  epidemic  diseases,  climate  change,  etc.  increased  risks  to
                        financial and monetary markets, global energy and food security. In the
                        country,  the  higher  input  prices  led  to  increase  in  production  and
                        transportation  costs,  and  put  pressure  on  inflation  control;  new-

                        generation free trade agreements were being implemented.
                            The year 2022 was the second year of implementing the Resolution
                        of the XIV Soc Trang Provincial Party Congress, tenure 2020-2025; the

                        Provincial  Party  Committee  focused  on  leading  and  directing  the
                        implementation  of  the  socio-economic  recovery  and  development
                        programme after the COVID-19 pandemic, in the context of facing many
                        challenges  due  to  fluctuations  in  fuel  sources,  and  prolonged  higher
                        prices,  etc.  However,  with  the  drastic  direction  of  the  Provincial  Party

                        Committee,  the  Provincial  People’s  Council,  the  Provincial  People’s
                        Committee, and close coordination of all-level administrative authorities
                        and  agencies,  many  solutions  to  comprehensive  socio-economic
                        development in the province were issued and implemented.


                            1. Economic growth
                            The  gross  regional  domestic  product  (GRDP)  in  2022  at  2010

                        constant  prices  preliminarily  was  38,526  billion  VND,  an  increase  of
                        7.77% compared to that in 2021. Of which, the agricultural, forestry and
                        fishery sector (sector I) reached 16,797 billion VND, rising 4.34%, and
                        contributing  1.95  percentage  points  to  the  overall  growth;  the  industry
                        and construction sector (sector II) approximately achieved 6,300 billion

                        VND, going up 10.11%, and contributing 1.62 percentage points to the
