1.2. Sector II: Industry, construction
In 2023, the total value added of Sector II at current prices was
11,141 billion VND, and 6,764 billion VND at constant 2010 prices, a
year-on-year increase of 7.39%.
The value added of industrial activities at current prices reached
7,100 billion VND, and 4,367 billion VND at constant 2010 prices, up
6.86% against the previous year. Of which, the mining and quarrying; the
manufacturing; production and distribution electricity, gas, steam; water
supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities saw an
increase of 45.44%; 5.78%; 27.12%; and 1.28%, respectively. One of the
spotlights of Soc Trang province was the development orientation of
industrial parks mainly along the Northern route of Hau River, Chau Doc
- Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway, Quan Lo - Phung Hiep route; and
developing industrial spaces associated with concentrated logistics
services in Tran De and Long Phu districts.
Soc Trang provincial authority focused on carrying-out key
national and provincial traffic projects with the participation of the entire
political system to deploy site clearance, kick-off the Component Project
4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Construction
Investment Project Phase 1 and kick-off the Dai Ngai Bridge
Construction Investment Project. The authorities also coordinated
implementation of investment to complete the National Highway 1A
Renovation and Upgrade Project segment in Soc Trang province. The
added value of the construction at current prices reached 4,041 billion
VND, and 2,398 billion VND at constant 2010 prices, up 8.37% against
that in 2022.
1.3. Sector III: Service
The total added value of sector III in 2023 at current prices was
28,711 billion VND, and 15,457 billion VND at constant 2010 price,
gaining an increase of 8.76% compared to that in 2022.
