The trade and service activities in 2023 in the province were
relatively vibrant compared to that in 2022. In April and May, the Hung
Kings' Commemoration Day holidays on the 10th of the 3rd lunar month,
April 30 and May Day coincided with the weekend which was a quite
long holiday in combination with the Chol Chnam Thmay festival of the
Khmer people, so the demand for entertainment, recreation and food
consumption increased. The Ooc Om Boc Festival - Soc Trang Ngo Boat
Race in 2023, had activities such as: trade promotion fair for OCOP
products and regional specialties; trade conference, connecting supply
and demand of goods in Soc Trang province 2023; the 5th "Soc Trang
Flavor" Street Food Festival; art photo exhibition; Khmer Television
Singing Festival in the Southern region had a strong impact on economic
growth in sector III. Soc Trang province continued to orient the
development of commercial service space associated with urban
development; along traffic corridors; developing eco-tourism services
mainly along riverside, coastal routes and in Cu Lao Dung area.
2. Economic structure
The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2023 at current
prices reached 72,093 billion VND, of which the Agriculture, Forestry
and Fishery sector was 29,972 billion VND, accounting for 41.58%; the
Industry and Construction sector reached 11,141 billion VND,
accounting for 15.45%; the Services and products taxes less subsidies on
products reached 28,711 billion VND and 2,269 billion VND,
respectively, with the corresponding share of 39.82% and 3.15%. The
economic structure had shifted in a positive direction with a slight
decrease in the proportion of the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector
and products taxes less subsidies on products and an increase in the
proportion of the industry - construction and services sectors.
