                        brand of Soc Trang province. In 2023, the total area of perennial crops in
                        the province reached 44,470 hectares, a year-on-year increase of 0.97%
                        and 428 hectares; of which, the area of fruit production reached 28,718

                        hectares, a year-on-year increase of 1.00%, and 285 hectares.
                             6.1.2. Livestock

                             As  of  January  1,  2023,  the  number  of  buffaloes  and  cattle

                        population in the province witnessed a  year-on-year decline, of which,
                        buffaloes reached 2,324 heads, a decline of 2.06%; the cattles population
                        was 53,480 heads, a decline of 1.83%. Meanwhile, the pig and poultry
                        population  experienced  a  year-on-year  expansion,  particularly,  the  pig
                        population  reached  198,100  heads,  a  growth  of  15.94%;  the  poultry
                        population  (chickens,  ducks,  geese)  reached  7,163,000  heads,  an
                        expansion of 11.38% and 732,000 heads.

                             In 2023, there were 07 African swine fever outbreaks recorded in

                        the province (03 outbreaks in Chau Thanh district, 01 in Cu Lao Dung,
                        01 in Long Phu, 01 in Nga Nam town, 01 in Vinh Chau town) with the
                        number  of  deads  and  disposed  of  262  heads,  an  equivalent  weight of
                        10.18  tons;  also,  there  was  one  avian  influenza  outbreak  recorded  in
                        Hamlet  5,  Ward  3,  Soc  Trang  city  with  the  number  of  dead  and
                        disposed of 23 heads. There was no major fluctuation recorded in the
                        number of heads.

                             6.2. Forestry

                             In 2023, the newly planted forest area reached 735.44 hectares, a
                        decline of 4.04%, equivalent to 30.94 hectares; wood production reached

                        97,652 m , a decline of 1.72%, equivalent to 1,710 m , in comparison to
                        that in the previous year. The production of firewood reached 73,711 Ste,
                        a year-on-year decline of 9.04%, equivalent to 7,329 Ste. The number of
                        scattered planted forest trees reached 1,800 thousand trees, a decline of
                        01 thousand trees. In 2023, there was 01 protective forest fire in Tran De
                        district with a burnt area of 0.62 hectares (mainly nipa palm trees).
