6.3. Fishery
Fishery production in 2023 reached 385,242 tons (of which,
capturing production was 69,078 tons and aquaculture production was
316,164 tons), a year-on-year increase of 7.28%. Particularly, fish
production was 158,623 tons, an increase of 13.71%; shrimp production
was 205,114 tons, an increase of 4.58%; production of other fisheries
reached 21,505 tons, a decline of 8.34%.
The aquaculture water surface area in 2023 was 75,131 hectares,
gaining a year-on-year increase of 2.99% and 2,178 hectares. Of which,
the fish culturing area was 18,880 hectares, an increase of 8.54%,
equivalent to 1,485 hectares; the shrimp culturing area was 53,623
hectares, an increase of 0.65%, equivalent to an increase of 348 hectares;
the other aqua culturing area was 2,628 hectares, an increase of 15.10%,
equivalent to an increase of 345 hectares. The aquaculture harvested area
was 58,529 hectares, a year-on-year decrease of 0.60%, and 368 hectares
(of which 16,989 harvested hectares of fish, 38,959 hectares of shrimp,
and 2,581 hectares of other fishery production). The damaged area in
2023 was 2,477 hectares, a year-on-year decline of 11.03%, equivalent to
307 hectares (damaged black tiger shrimp was 511 hectares, white-leg
shrimp was 1,966 hectares).
7. Industrial production
In 2023, the industrial production activities, especially activities of
export enterprises, faced difficulties and challenges because governments
tightened their monetary policy to control inflation, causing a decline in
business investment; the impact of the El Nino phenomenon; the Russia-
Ukraine war; geopolitical instability; etc., that caused the reduction of the
total demand in the world market.
In the general context, the province's industrial production
activities in 2023 faced challenges, especially the manufacturing (with a
large proportion of the processing fishery for export). In the first
