decrease due to a decline in orders and order size of some key products;
handicraft production mainly for domestic consumption needs, etc. In
the last six months in 2023, the province's industrial production
witnessed an improvement and slight growth compared to that in the
same period last year.
The index of industrial production (IIP) in 2023 decreased by
5.96%, compared to that in the same period last year (it increased by
5.09% in 2022); of which, the manufacturing decreased by 7.31%; the
processing and preservation of fisheries and fishery products declined by
7.49%; garment production fell by 35.76%; production of drugs,
pharmaceutical chemicals and medicinal materials decreased by 27.28%;
production of other non-metallic minerals reduced by 33.99%;
production of concrete and products from cement and plaster decreased
by 40.47% because most of the wind power projects in the province were
completed in 2022.
8. Trade and service
In 2023, there were 116 markets, 02 commercial centers, 45
supermarkets, many convenience and specialized stores in the province.
Generally, transaction activities at markets, commercial centers,
supermarkets and convenience stores in 2023 basically remained stable;
food, foodstuffs and other essential commodities were guaranteed to meet
people's demands. Trade promotion activities attracted people’s interests;
particularly 15 fairs, especially trade promotion fair of OCOP products and
the Mekong River Delta province’s specialties and Conference on supply
and demand connection, production linkage, OCOP products and regional
specialties consumption were organized in the province in the year.
8.1. Gross retail sales of goods and consumer services turnover
In 2023, the gross retail sales of goods and services turnover
reached 87,972 billion VND, an increase of 23.73% compared to that in
2022 (of which, the retail sales of goods were 56,264 billion VND, a rise
of 15.00%; accommodation, eating out and traveling activities were
