regained 120 million USD, equal to the figure in 2022; the import
turnover in 2023 reached 210 million USD, gaining 84% of the plan, a
drop of 9.12% compared to that in 2022.

8.3. Transportation

Transport activities in the province in 2023 remained stable and
developed. Road traffic attracted more interest in investment and

development of infrastructure, convenient transport network connected
provinces and cities; transport businesses and enterprises also constantly
improved, enhanced their service quality, set up flexible prices to meet
the needs of passengers and freight carriage in the province. Regarding
inland waterways transport in the province, passengers and freight were
carried by ferries in riverside passenger water terminals in different

tonnages, the number of passengers carried recorded high volume on
school year, Tet holidays and the occasions of festivals; the volume of
freight carried witnessed an increases during harvest season of
agricultural and aquatic products, etc. Coastal and maritime transport

with the Con Dao route (passenger transport) received favorable
conditions in 2023 with an increase in the number of passengers and
turnover.

The turnover of passenger and freight transport, storage and
transport supporting services reached 2,524 billion VND, an increase
of 26.60% compared to that in 2022 (turnover of roadway gained 1,852

billion VND, a rise of 21.05%; turnover of waterway reached 469
billion VND, an upturn of 70.86%).

The number of passengers carried in 2023 reached 34,609 thousand
passengers, an increase of 37.12% compared to that in 2022, equivalent
to 2,110,209 thousand passengers traffic in terms of passenger-
kilometres; the volume of freight carried in 2023 attained 47,663

thousand tons, a jump of 10.23%; the volume of freight traffic in terms of
tonne-kilometres was 966,765 thousand tons.km, a soar of of 6.41%
compared to that in the previous year.
