9.2. Living standard and social security
In terms of household living standard in 2023, the household’s
average income gained a year-on-year increase of 4.37% (equivalent to
167,000 VND). The social security and life care for policy beneficiaries
were always guaranteed. During the year, more than 19 billion VND was
given to support national devotees and their relatives; more than 18
billion VND was expended to visit and support the poor and near-poor
households (just above poverty line); more than 261 billion VND was
spent to support social protection beneficiaries in accordance with the
Decree 20/2021/ND-CP; and nearly 500 million VND was given to
support for sudden, unusual and other outstanding situations. In 2023,
1,097,670 free health insurance cards were issued to different groups of
beneficiaries.
9.3. Education
In 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training, Soc Trang Provincial
Party Committee, People's Council and Provincial People's Committee
continuously paid attention and directed to the Soc Trang education
sector through the promulgation of policies, resolutions, programs, plans,
goals and directive documents related to the education and training
consolidation and development in Soc Trang province. As of December
2023, there were 382/460 schools classified as nationally standardized
schools, reaching 83.04% (equaling 100.05% of the 2023 plan).
9.4. Health
In 2023, the focus of the health sector leading was to continue to
fully implement preventive medicine and food safety activities.
Information technology application in people’s medical examination,
treatment and health management as well as sufficient supply of
medicines, medical consumables, testing reagents, etc. were ensured to
serve the people's disease prevention and treatment needs. The quality of
medical examination and treatment services and measures to meet the
patients’ satisfaction were continuously improved in the province.
